Taking these shots on the Mt. Chapel hike made me realize just how long it had been since I had taken this hike. It might be over six years. Exile, heartbreak, inertia – wow. And when it came time to do it, it was as simple as making up my mind and asking my roommate if I could use some sunscreen and borrow a water bottle. I was out the door ten minutes after I thought of it.

I can tell that I have taken shots from some of the exact same spots dating all the way back to ’05. Good way to measure progress. From this height, the city looks mostly the same, but down on the steet level, things are happening.

The clouds were doing amazing things, and I felt lucky to be where I was so I could watch these massive cutains of light draping over parts of the basin.

Trying out a new format – dropping the photo gallery directly into the post. I’m planning an overhaul of the site’s design in the next month or so, and so I’m going to be experimenting with different ways to share pictures. Here’s today’s try:

A walk in the Hollywood Hills on a day when the clouds were doing fascinating things with the light in the L.A. basin – Jan. 26, 2013
